Two concerts were held on December 10 and 11, 2019 in the Fricsay Hall of the Béla Bárták Art Faculty of the University of Szeged, supporting the Bohócdoktorait cavitation in support of the Charity Foundation.
The first concert featured university students and the second featured faculty members. For both concerts, a ticket of admittance was chocolate.
“Our goal is to collect as much chocolate as possible, ” we learned from Enikő Béres, one of the organizers of the charity campaign. A representative of the Student Council of the Faculty said that the students of the Faculty welcomed the invitation to the concert organized by the HÖK office. The HÖK team of the faculty has been organizing a concert for the foundation for several years. In recent years, clothing, durable food, and stuffed animals have been collected. It was not only during the concerts that fundraising took place: boxes of chocolates could be carried in the faculty building.
Organized by the Dean’s Office, the university’s faculty and staff also took part in the gathering, which was closed by the Advent concert. The guests were welcomed by Dean Róbert Nátyi, Péter Tóth Deputy Dean, Georgina Majó-Petri Head of the Dean’s Office and the staff of the Dean’s Office. Sándor Gyüdi – conductor and artistic director of the Szeged Symphony Orchestra – lit Advent candles. He talked about love and the festive anticipation between the tracks. He has read from Sándor Márai’s quotation from Four Seasons-December, as well as from János Pilinszky and Anselm Grün.
Dr. Zoltán Zsigmond and Dr. Éva Papp played piano on two pianos, instructors of our faculty.
They were accompanied by the University Chamber Orchestra, led by Dr. István Kosztándi College Associate Professor. The Advent Concert was closed by Prof. Ferenc Szecsődi, a professor of violin, accompanied by a chamber orchestra.
Not only our faculty but also several units of the University of Szeged participated in the fundraising. The SZTE Faculty of Humanities organized a collection of Christmas chocolate and shoeboxes for the Charity Foundation. The Doctoral Student Union of the University of Szeged also joined the clown doctors’ healing activity. Chocolate, croissant, and candy donations were available until December 13, 2019, at the collection points: the GTK Main Building, the Institute of Biochemistry, and the BTK Building. Alongside the sweets, you could write nice messages and quotes that the clown doctors read to the kids during their visits.
