About the competition

The international opera competition "Lazar Jovanović" is one of the most important opera competitions in this part of Europe and the largest and most important opera competition in Serbia! It is intended for young artists ready to start their professional careers and to measure their knowledge, artistic qualities and show their talent in front of an authoritative international jury. It was founded in 2004 in honor of the famous Yugoslav tenor Lazar Jovanović and is held at the Ilija M. Kolarac Endowment. Every year, the competition welcomes over a hundred participants from over ten countries. So far, some of the biggest names in the domestic and world music scene and pedagogy have appeared in the competition jury, and the winners of the competition have confirmed themselves as excellent musicians in recent years, conquering world concert podiums and opera stages.

About the organizer

The Cultural element is an artistic association founded in 2011 in Belgrade, which brings together a large number of young artists, actors, dancers and musicians, top professionals in their fields. Together, they form one of the most eminent art groups, which has so far realized dozens of projects across the country. The members of the Cultural element have a common goal, which is to contribute to the popularization of culture and art in this area with their education, energy and experience. By carefully selecting the members, a quality team has been created that is capable of creating something new and creative, while nurturing tradition and respecting the cultural heritage that has been given to us. Open to the modern, in constant connection with tradition, the Cultural element creates new art forms, nurtures the cultural work of ancestors and educates younger generations, directing them in the ways of culture and art.
