4. Internationaler Werner-Pirchner-Preis für Blasinstrumente 2025

For the fourth time, the Tyrolean State Conservatory, in cooperation with the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna (mdw), is awarding the Werner Pirchner Prize. This is an international competition for wind instruments, which is awarded annually in two categories. In 2025, musicians up to the age of 30 can compete for an attractive prize fund totaling EUR 17,000, playing the instruments Tuba & Bassoon.

The competition consists of 3 rounds: From January 17 to May 2, 2025, interested musicians can upload their applications and videos for the 1st round on MUVAC. A panel of experts will then select 6 candidates per category, who will qualify for the publicly accessible final weekend in Innsbruck from October 3 to October 5, 2025. The highlight of the weekend, in addition to various masterclasses and workshops in both categories, will be the grand final concert at the Haus der Musik (Innsbruck) on Sunday, October 5, 2025, in which the 3 finalists per category will perform together with the Werner Pirchner Prize Orchestra. After the concert, the award ceremony will take place.

The winners will have the opportunity to be engaged as soloists for further concert projects (collaboration with the renowned Chibulka Competition, concert at the Festspielhaus Erl, among others).
