Free testing is provided for international students who have been ordered to stay in quarantine upon arrival to Hungary, furthermore to international and Hungarian health-science students who spend their practices at clinics of the University.

You can download the COVID 19 Testing Procedure 2020/2021 flowchart here.

Procedure regarding requisitioning of the SARS-COV2 PCR testing provided by the University of Szeged, along with the official exemption process for home quarantine:

1. If you are quarantined at your own apartment (rented room, flat, own flat, hotel room, etc.,), please follow the instructions below

Please book an appointment for testing on our online registering form. The testing location is at the SZTE Apáthy Dormitory, (Apáthy István utca 4. Szeged 6720).

We ask only those students to fill out the form, who are currently spending the officially ordered 14 days of home quarantine. We can only provide the two free of charge PCR tests for those students who have filled out this form.

These are the prerequisites for booking your appointment:

  • you must have arrived to Szeged in order to be able to book a date
  • you must consent that your personal data and any data in connection with your testing procedure are accessible and transmittable for the University of Szeged, and for its colleagues assigned to communicate with the epidemiological authorities.
  • you must authorize the University of Szeged as your full-fledged representative in the process carried out the epidemiological authorities in order to be exempted from the mandatory quarantine.

You must give your consent and authorisation on the link above. You will be furthermore obliged to fill out and sign the hard copy of the Authorization, which will be provided at the testing center on the occasion of the first test.

When booking your first date, you will be automatically given a second date for your second test, at least 48 hours after the first one.

Those who have brought a negative SARS-CoV2 test result conducted in a Schengen country accredited laboratory, might be exempted from one test. In this case the test must be sent to the following e-mail address: arrival@szte.hu. On the same Modulo surface where you booked your appointment for the test, you have to indicate that you already have a negative SARS-CoV2 PCR test and will send it to the given e-mail address.

We would like to draw into your attention that a negative SARS-CoV2 test result conducted in a Schengen country is accepted on condition that it is followed by a second test conducted in Hungary at least 48 hours apart and not later than 5 days from the time that the first test took place in the Schengen country.

Students who wish to undergo the test by the University of Szeged should take this into consideration when booking the second test appointment on the Modulo surface. The second test appointment should be 48 hours apart from the first test and fall within the next 5 days from when the first test was taken.

Upon our request, the epidemiological authority will authorise you to go directly to the testing location for both testing occasions on the shortest possible route without the use of any public traffic. You must have all the necessary protective equipment and always wear a mask when you leave your premises to go to the testing site.

In case both test results are negative, the University will hand in a request for the epidemiological authority, requesting your exemption from the mandatory quarantine. You may only leave your quarantine location after you are given the official decision of the authority which will be sent to you by the University via e-mail.

If any of your two tests are positive for SARS-CoV2 then the epidemiological authority will get in touch with you and advice about your next tasks.

If you have been admitted to a dormitory or you are spending your quarantine at a dormitory, your testing procedure will take place at the Öthalmi or Apáthy Dormitories.

Your testing schedule will be provided by the dormitory, as well as the test result. Students having an “Ügyfélkapu” account, can also check the test results there.
